About Ceeta Designs
Ceeta Designs was born out of a passion for all things creative. Whether that is interior design, branding, minerals, jewelry, art, food, nature - we love it all.
We believe that Mother Nature is the best artist. We love sunrises, sunsets, family, designing interiors that are beautiful and comfortable. We love making jewelry, painting, cooking with herbs from our garden, reading cookbooks for pleasure, long walks, horses and dogs...
We try to make our homes and environments our sanctuary. We like to dress with stylish harmony and be grateful every day.
About Kristy aka Ceeta
I grew up on an idyllic Quarter Horse farm outside of Baltimore, Maryland and went to McDonogh Preparatory School in Owings Mills playing Field Hockey and Lacrosse, riding horses and making tie dye clothing in the barn using my Father's Veterinarian syringes for my technique.
At at the age of six, I insisted my name was Ceeta and not Kristy... wanted to change my name but my parents would not let me but it became my nickname. I found that it is a Hindu name, spelled Sita but I kept the six year old spelling just for fun.
My first friends were animals.
Both of my parents I credit with my love for animals, nature and design, I was not allowed to be inside if it was a pretty day outside! My Mother always had a passion for antiquing in Pennsylvania, real estate and late night house re-arranging and design.
I grew up showing horses across the country with people from all over the world, but Texas always had my heart. I knew my family would eventually move there so I chose Texas A&M. I graduated with a B.A. in Journalism with an emphasis on copywriting and graphic design and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. I studied Spanish in Salamanca, Spain and traveled around to Italy, Spain and France soaking in all of the wonderful design, art and culture. I also interned with The Arrangement in Deep Ellum in Dallas during Christmas break my sophomore year with the owner, Katherine Snedeker. She is brilliant and I learned so much from her. She gave me the best piece of advice in design - think about your favorite place in nature and all of the colors and textures and use that in your designs.
After graduation, I begged my Father to send me to Interior Design School and he said "No, take the first job offer you get..." And I am glad he did. Cowboy Publishing in Fort Worth was the first job offer where I researched and wrote articles on the Quarter Horse Industry. I then moved to Dallas, Texas and worked for the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce as the Creative Services Manager, learning to be a certified webmaster. I created the first website for the Chamber.
I then went to work for Brink's Home Security for 10 years working in direct response marketing and branding with a wonderful boss and mentor, Dwayne Sigler. We were in charge of everything with the logos, from television commercials to uniforms to print ads. After Brink's Home Security spun off from Brink's Inc. in a $150MM rebrand, we rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on July 1, 2009 only to be purchased by TYCO for $2BB that fall. The new brand and all of the hard work out of the window but what a fun ride it was and I learned so much. Saturday Night Live spoofed one of our tv commercials and I felt like maybe I could retire after that. Here is a link to the SNL spoof.

Dwayne went to be the CMO of ClubCorp in 2010 after the Dedman Family sold to private equity firm, KSL, and I followed shortly thereafter. That three years was a blur as I worked night and day and to restructure the Marketing/Creative Services Department, bringing along a few wonderful people with me from our team at Brink's/Broadview as well as good souls who were already at ClubCorp. We also went thru a major rebrand of all of the club's brands, photography, etc. I traveled to the Clubs across the country on the weekend doing photoshoots with the wonderful photographer, Clay Hayner. In those three years, I survived Mono, West Nile, Kidney Stones and an enormous amount of stress while only missing a few days of work... ClubCorp eliminated my position and with the encouragement of my family and close friends, I took the summer off.
That summer, in the midst of trying to regain my health, I could barely pick up my purse after West Nile. I was learning pilates on the reformer, taking long walks with my beloved 12-year-old Belgian Shepherd, Layla, and my new rescue, Lucy, and rethinking my life. What was my purpose? I had been caught up in the corporate world for so long. I lost Layla to bone cancer suddenly, I was devastated. I was so sad and my friend insisted I go to a birthday party just three days after I buried Layla. I of course, called my Mother, and she encouraged me to go, so I went.
And then as fate would have it, I met the love of my life, my now husband, at that small birthday party on a breezy July afternoon. I briefly went back to work for a non profit at the Dallas Market Center and learned all about Market and the Dallas Design District and wow, my dream of being an interior designer came true! Studying online with the Interior Design Institute and combining my years of branding, marketing, public relations and corporate experience is the perfect blend! I still have so much to learn and I am always tweaking things. The world of design is so amazing!
Thank you for visiting Ceeta Designs.
